The 7 Habits has changed the way I think and behave. Put First Things First (work then play) is really helping me to get my important jobs done first, rather than completing minor less important tasks. The staff relate to each other in a powerful way. We use the common language to ecourage, challenge and support each other - to be the best we can be. The teachers and children are working together, synergising to achieve greatness! Stephen R. Covey's 7 Habits are transforming our school culture. We are implementing timeless principles that are helping us to identify each child's talent. We are developing each child's confidence. We are showing them that they are leaders.
I seek first to understand and I sometimes seek help which is synergising. Everyone can win. I always be proactive, as I am in charge of what I do and how I do it. I demonstrate proactive as I always be a leader when no one is watching. I always listen well. I have been proactive when playing the maths subtraction snakes and ladders game because I was taking charge of my learning. SEEKING FIRST TO UNDERSTAND I'm in class and sit down on the floor and listen to what the teacher has to say. SYNERGISE I work in a group, I help others.
I've been using proactive and its been changing my life. Im at school everyday on time. Its made me just get up out of bed, get changed, go down stairs, eat my breakfast, pack my lunch and im off to school. I get there on time!
I like being a leader in this school, by using all of the things especially synergising. All my friends are thinking win win. In my narrative text I always have a plan, so I begin with the end in mind. I really like this school and how everyone is being a leader. And following their shining path.
I use the habit 'Put First Things First'. I find it helps me get important jobs done efficiently at home and school, rather than wasting time on things that aren't so important.
I synergise by letting my friends do stuff in the sandpit with me. Everybody is a good leader. Everybody should use the 7 habits in school and out of school.
This week I have used my habits with homework. I have been doing my homework and I have been in charge. I have been choosing my moods. I haven't been blaming others for my wrongs. The whole class is synergising. We work together, not just one single person. We value other people's strengths and learn from them.
This week I have put first things first when learning about transport. I worked really hard on my sea transport one, and I got a lot of information down about the aircraft carrier. Well, I did also begin with the end in mind and use win-win. At lunch I was playing with my friends and one wanted to play one thing, and one wanted to play another. So I created a plan where we could play both and everyone was happy with a win-win.
We have used synergise in writing by doing our draft together, and finishing it on time. We put first things first, we did our writing first and then our picture. We had a plan. We will have fun publishing it!
I began with the end in mind. I have had a plan for the week and share this with the Year 4 students. The children said that I have been putting first things first by helping the students learn. This week I have been focusing on sharpening the saw. I am learning more about balancing work, exercise, fun and time spent with family and friends. It certainly feels better when there is balance!
Parktone Primary opened in 1961, in a quiet residential street of Parkdale. The school grounds are spacious and attractive. Traditional classrooms have been transformed into stimulating learning centres incorporating computer technology. Our motto 'Always Moving Forward' defines the mindset of our teachers, parents and students. We are always moving forward in our understanding and in the ways we work together.
